Brooklin

When it comes to variety, you won't find quite the same selection in Brooklin homes as you might in many neighbouring communities. This is because Brooklin is quite a small town, with a population of just under 16,000, as of the 2006 Canadian census.

A lack of high rise condominiums and loft apartments in Brooklin does not mean that this town suffers when it comes to real estate opportunities. In fact, many residents will tell you that it is hard to find better value on a home in the Greater Toronto Area than what you can find in Brooklin.

The town includes several different varieties of single-detached dwelling, with both rural and suburb feels to them. For the most part, residents of Brooklin commute to work in larger communities such as Whitby, Oshawa, Markham, and even Toronto. All of these communities are within 25 miles of the town, although Whitby and Oshawa are much closer than Toronto, with only 10 kilometres or so to travel.

Brooklin real estate opportunities are set apart from other sectors of Whitby, Ontario real estate, due to the fact that the town has developed quite slowly. There are still plenty of affordable houses on sizable plots, with big yards and fronting onto forested woodlands. There are even farmhouses and acreages available in Brooklin for those interested.

People looking for homes in Brooklin are generally young families where one or both parents hold jobs in one of the bigger cities near to the area. It should come as no surprise, then, that Brooklin real estate centres on affordable single-family dwellings. While buyers may not find the variety of housing options that they might in Whitby, Toronto, or Markham, they can count on a comfortable house with a price tag that reflects the size of the town rather than the quality of the housing.
