Community

In this section, we are going to take a look at what makes up the community of Oakville. Because of its proximity to Canada's largest city, Oakville and Toronto are often compared in terms of what is on tap. One should always keep in mind, however, that Toronto is not more than a fifteen-minute drive away. If you are looking for Mon Cheri bridal dresses and can't find them at a boutique in Oakville, for example, you don't have far to travel in order to find a good selection.

Always relying on one community to make up for a dearth of factors in another is not the right way to go about selecting a home town, however. Fortunately, Oakville is more than able to hold its own in many areas.

Let's start out with the relative lifestyle of the citizens of Oakville. The last census reported that Oakville was amongst the top ten most affluent municipalities in the country. Residents earned around $85,000 each year on average, and houses had a median price of just over $305,000. This means that for all intents and purposes, a home purchase in Oakville is a guaranteed investment whether one is talking average or luxury homes. Toronto may have more to offer, but per capita Oakville has a greater percentage of high value homes.

Perhaps because of the affluence of its citizens, Oakville also boasts a suite of entertainment options that go beyond the usual for a city of its size. The Oakville Centre for the Performing Arts stays busy with performances year round. The Centre attracts a lot of attention from people all over the area, including Toronto bed & breakfast businesses within the city are kept busy with artistic visitors throughout the season.

Oakville also has several opportunities for those interested in sports. Among these is the Oakville Soccer Club, which is the biggest club of its kind in Canada. As you can imagine, a sports program this size keeps everybody busy when the year-end tournaments come around; even Toronto catering companies will be called in to help prepare for the celebrations!

The needs of an affluent populace combine with real estate considerations to make Oakville a good place for those looking to open up a small business. Although housing prices are still high, Oakville has some very reasonable prices when it comes to office space for lease. Toronto prices are still much higher, so businesses looking to relocate to the Oakville community have some incentive to do so.

An affluent, safe, and busy community, Oakville is the ideal place to make a home. Even if you can't find the recreational opportunities you want within the city, Toronto and all it offers is just a few kilometres away.
