Education

One of the most important things to look at for any family when switching from one location to another is the education available within the new location. An Ontario first time home buyer may be surprised at the range of options available to them and their families in many of the cities located in Southern Ontario. Many Canadian cities have fairly straightforward choices when it comes to the educational choices for their children. There may be one or two private schools, some French immersion opportunities, and so on. For the most part, though, families go with the public school that is located closest to them in their neighbourhoods.

What is true for most of Canada is not the case when it comes to southern Ontario. As with so many different areas, the educational options in the heartland of Canada are much more varied than anywhere else in the country. This is largely due to the long history of the region, the same reason you can expect to find Corktown lofts Toronto based, alongside century old warehouses.

As a part of the Greater Toronto area, Richmond Hill can offer families the educational options afforded by a dense and varied population combined with a rich history. To begin with, there are the public schools to be found in the town. As is the case in all of Canada, public education falls under the auspices of the Provincial government. This means that the curriculum of the public schools in Richmond Hill is the same as those found in Toronto, Windsor, and Barrie. There will be differences between different provincial curriculums (a nanny, Vancouver trained, might need to brush up on the Ontario system) but from one town to the next the same material will be found in each school.

There are 35 public schools in Richmond Hill currently. This includes 25 completed elementary schools with five more planned to open within the next few years. These schools, along with the five public high schools in the Richmond Hill area, consistently rank among the tops in the province and indeed across the entire nation. That's a good sign of a healthy start for your child, whether she intends to be a realtor, web design specialist, or a doctor!

For those interested in a more individual educational program, Richmond Hill includes several private schools for students. Parent who want to enroll their children in a school with a theological foundation will find 13 elementary schools run by the Catholic School Board in Richmond. There is also one high school run by this board, with another currently being built.

If you have spent the time and energy practicing holistic parenting, organic diapers and all, you may be interested in Montessori and other natural educational options for your child. These too can be found in Richmond Hill as well as the surrounding York area.
