Neighbourhoods

There are many neighbourhoods in Oshawa, but some of the core communities are: downtown Oshawa, Grandview Heights, Kedron, Kingsway Village, Thornton Woods, Lake Vista, and North Oshawa.

Downtown Oshawa: Downtown Oshawa is the oldest downtown core in the Durham region and is the home to the iconic four corners of Oshawa.

Kedron: Kedron is a relatively small community. It's the home to Durham College and UOIT, as well as Camp Samac. Camp Samac is a camp run by the Boy Scouts of Canada. As it was once predominantly rural, you can still find a few farms in the area, including the famous Windfields Farm.

Kingsway Village: A largely commercialized area, Kingsway Village is an older community and is home to the Kingsway Forest subdivsion. This subdivision is well-known for its streets; each street is named after a car model.

Lake Vista: An older community, Lae Vista is a commercialized area, that houses the General Motors Canada plant.

North Oshawa: Well-known for its gigantic apartment buildings, North Oshawa is highly commercialized and is also considered the "New Oshawa". This is due to the large increase in new properties, as well as a new community centre.

Courtice: Real estate in this village may be cheaper and easier to come by than in Oshawa proper, and with more of a country feel. Yet, it is still only 60kms from downtown Toronto.
