Outside the GTA

When it comes to the Canadian perceptive, there can be no doubt that Toronto is the centre of the country. It might rub people outside of the city the wrong way, but there is no escaping the fact that the metropolis is truly the financial capital, and with a huge population and some of the most cutting-edge concepts around, like some condominiums on Toronto's waterfront, there simply is no city that can rival it in Canada. You may not find the space to start a business as a greenhouse supplier but you will find just about any industry there is within the city's walls.

However, Toronto's central place within our national mosaic does not mean that we should forget the outlying areas. In fact, there are plenty of economic and residential opportunities to be found outside of the greater Toronto area, from Kitchener real estate to Fenelon Falls cottages.

Just what kind of opportunities are we talking about? Well, the options run the gamut from good sized communities to municipalities that are only slightly less than metropolises themselves. Take, for example, the city of Hamilton. Ontario real estate seekers can find anything they are looking for in this city, population just over 500,000. There are professional sports teams, parks, and business opportunities of all kinds. In fact, Hamilton is the focal point of the Golden Horseshoe region, an area well known for its vast industrial diversity.

People looking for a slightly less busy lifestyle might be interested in a home for sale in Milton, Ontario. This community is quite small considering the other areas nearby, with a population only slightly over 50,000 in 2006. Nevertheless, it has been labelled as the fastest growing municipality in Canada; homes there are likely to increase greatly in value over the next decade.

Population wise, Brantford, Ontario is larger than Milton. A mid size municipality mindset is the state of being when you are talking about Brantford. Real estate here has seen an increase over the last few years as the area has been revitalized by industry and by inclusion in the Golden Horseshoe region of the province.
